Five Shades of white

I was not a painter in my past life and clearly not one in my present.

No matter if its paint for your wall, the colour of your future cabinets or selecting fabric for upholstery; When someone is in the market looking for white, there always follows the question “What kind of white?”

Maybe long, long, long ago there was only one (MAYBE two) shades of white. Now … there are literally hundreds. Benjamin Moore alone has over one hundred and fifty…why?!

To narrow down that extensive lists its always good to have a smaller range of go-tos.

1. Benjamin Moore’s “Simply White” – an excellent choice as it falls close in the middle, neither stark or off-white. Its doesn’t make the space seem sterile nor does it make it look aged. Under almost any lighting it gives off a “fresh” look.

2. Benjamin Moore’s “Chantilly Lace” - is the cleanest white color in the spectrum because It has no warm or cool undertones. The fear of it making your cabinets or furniture too cold or too warm is not something to worry about.

3. Benjamin Moore’s “Decorators White” - Decorators White falls under a cool undertone of an off-white. It contains a little gray, creating an off-white option that doesn't lean in any particular colour tone, but a lovely contender if Pure White is just too warm.

4. Pure White - Sherwin Williams' Pure White is a slight warmer version of Benjamin Moore’s Decorators white. It is a good, fairly clean white that doesn't lean in any particular color. (this is the colour we choose for our showroom walls).

5. Benjamin Moore’s White Heron - White Heron is a cool crisp white with slight blue undertones and looks amazing with marble and cool gray finishes. This color is a perfect backdrop for colorful artwork or fun furniture piece.

6. BONUS: Extra White - Sherwin Williams’ white white. Neither cool, nor warm. It is the MVP white paint. Just the thing when a fresh canvas is wanted.
