My Endy vs. Nectar Mattress Review

Photography by Vicki Bartel

Back in November 2021, I made the big decision to upgrade our old mattress and switch to an Endy and, I have to say, I’m still loving the sleep I’ve been getting! The combination of breath-ability, comfort, and support make me never want to get out of bed - heck sometimes I get the opportunity to work from home and most times you will find me there. This mattress has been a complete blessing to say the least for my husband and I… our two dogs and cats would also have to agree! With all of that being said, there are now many brands that offer the bed-in-a-box concept, and I was very curious to see how they stacked up to the Endy, so I decided to try out the Nectar mattress to do a comparison.

Overview

To give a quick summary:

● My Endy mattress has given me reliably restful sleeps for years now, and I love that it’s Canadian-made with free and easy delivery!

● Its firmness provides the support to relieve pain, and its motion transfer elimination means I’m sleeping through the night, every night.

● I slept well on the Nectar mattress too, with some motion transfer minimization, but my delivery experience was lengthy and frustrating.

Sleep and Overall Experience

By nature, I’m more of a night owl, which means I prefer to stay up later and I’m not much of a morning person, so I spend more time in bed before going to sleep. Needless to say, these mattresses have been tested thoroughly (including jumping on them… which is a bigger leg work-out than I expected).

Experience with the Endy Mattress

Sleeping on my Endy has always been great - it’s improved my sleep from the very first night, and I’ve been getting quality rest ever since. It’s very comfortable for back, side, and stomach sleepers (I am a mix of all three, whereas my husband Steve is strictly a side sleeper). First and foremost, I love the firmness of the mattress. It’s eliminated a lot of mine and my husband’s shoulder pain from sleeping on mattresses that are too firm. As I’ve had my Endy since 2021, I’ve spent many nights on it and it’s just as comfortable now as the day we set it up in our room. No sagging, no lumps – it still feels like new!

Since we share the bed with four animals (yes, I know, I would sleep better without them), it was extremely important to not feel “others” moving around in the night. I feel minimal movement transfer, but not enough to wake me up when I’m sleeping (minus the cat standing on my chest at 4am). I also LOVE the fact I can take the cover off my bed and wash it! I don’t know if people realize you can zip off the cover of the Endy mattress, but it’s true. I’m a clean freak and even with a mattress protector on top of the cover, I still like to have the option to wash everything when I change the bedding.

The mattress itself is light weight for moving purposes. I also couldn’t have asked for an easier delivery

experience - it showed up the day after it was ordered, brought straight to my doorstep with no hassle. I was able to carry the box into the house by myself and it was set up and ready to sleep on within minutes. The Endy price point is something important I want to touch on too: it’s very reasonable at

$895.00 for a Queen size.

Experience with the Nectar Mattress

Sleeping on the Nectar has been enjoyable as well! When we first unwrapped the mattress and laid on it, we were a bit worried about the overall “feel” of the top layer of foam. It felt almost too soft and like it was going to be one of those old school memory foam toppers that eventually disintegrated. There was minimal motion transfer too, which we love for obvious reasons. We did notice that the outer cover cannot come off for washing, and within two seconds of having it in our room, our one dog came into

the room and left a little muddy footprint on it. There were a few things I didn’t like about my overall experience with Nectar. When I ordered the mattress and was waiting for it to be delivered, I was getting very stressed about the whole process because I kept getting notifications it was coming… and then a call from the customer care team saying it was a glitch and it wasn’t coming. Then I got another call from Customer service saying it was on its way, and then a day later another call saying that the employee was mistaken. Then it just randomly showed up like a week later and thank goodness we were home as someone needed to be there to sign for the mattress. So the delivery process was frustrating and I could easily see how if someone else went through that they would without a doubt cancel their order.

About the Brands

About Endy

Photography by Vicki Bartel

Endy is a proudly Canadian company that has sold over half a million mattresses across the country to date. Customer satisfaction ratings are very high with an overall rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars and over 30,000 happy customer reviews (as someone who looks at the reviews before ordering or trying any products, this is a huge deal for me). The Endy Mattress has three-layers of foam, with each layer focusing on a different element for sleeping such as comfort and support, breath-ability, and motion transfer elimination. The base layer ensures perfect firmness and support. The second layer is to absorb motion transfer and relieve body pressure. The third layer is a breathable Comfort Foam designed to keep you cool all night. All three foam layers are certified by CertiPUR-US®meaning it’s safe from VOCs, formaldehyde, and phthalates. The mattress is medium-firm and comes with a removable, machine-washable cover, so you can keep your mattress looking as pristine as possible. It’s also made in Canada!

Endy’s prices are all very reasonable, with the Endy Mattress retailing for $895 CAD for a Queen mattress. They also offer a 100-night trial period and a 15-year warranty because they truly stand behind the quality of the products. Finally, Endy has donated 12,000+ mattresses to local charity partners and hospitals across Canada, which was so refreshing to learn.

About Nectar

Nectar is a US-based company that sources and manufactures their products in a few different countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, China, and Mexico. Nectar offers a 365-night trial and a forever warranty (which in my opinion should be renamed because we all know you should be changing your mattress every 10-15 years). Nectar makes 3 different “grades” of mattresses. The pricing of the mattresses ranges, but for a Queen size Nectar Memory Foam mattress (which is what I got), it was $899. To be able to compare it on all levels to the Endy, I did look into Charitable offerings, and currently if you want to return your mattress, Nectar will help you locate a spot to drop off the mattress to donate it. I believe you would receive a full refund, but I’m not 100% sure on that as the information was somewhat confusing. The Nectar mattress we have tested is part of the Classic Comfort line and is made from memory foam. The make-up of the mattress is also a three-layer foam with a similar structure to the Endy, but the top layer is a gel-infused foam that contours to your body (I can vouch for this) and is meant to keep you cool during your slumber. The mattress does have a cover on it, but it cannot be removed for cleaning. It’s considered a medium-firm mattress.

Final Verdict

Photography by Vicki Bartel

Considering all of the factors between the two mattresses, I like both, but based on comfort, customer experience, and the mattress cover – the Endy would be a clear winner here. I also really like that Endy is Canadian-made and that factor will always be an uptick on my “pros” list.

The last thing I will say is if you’re in the mattress market, do your research and investigate what others

are saying about their experiences because as someone who is a small business owner, the customer experience is so important and no matter how good your product is, that experience can outweigh everything!

Thanks for reading about my mattress experience friends, if you have any questions about it please feel free to reach out to me as I would be happy to chat more about this.

Cheers,

Markie.
