Our Most Listened to Podcasts
Is it just us or has everyone become team podcast lately? While there is no denying that are plenty of good albums coming out, there is something about putting in your earphones and listening to a really great conversation to pass the day away. There are so many podcasts out there (we swear, there is a new one coming out every week), so where do you start? Well, we’ve got your back.
Today we are sharing our favourite podcast and honestly, we think this is a pretty must listen list. So, whether you are brand new to the scene or are a seasoned podcast listener, we hope you give these a chance! If you have listened to any of these, let us know what your favourite episode is in the comments below!
Markie’s Must Listen:
My favourite murder - My Favourite Murder is not for the faint of heart but it is for people who enjoy true crime mixed in with a little bit of comedy. I listen to this podcast on Monday when their mini-episodes come out and Thursday when their full episodes come out. This podcast also is a true supporter of those of us struggling with mental health issues and it’s nice to hear others talking about their struggles instead of hiding them. If you already listen to this podcast, you know the magic behind these two hosts! #murderino
Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast - I’ve been listening to Bill Burr’s podcast for almost 10 years. It all started when I saw him at a comedy show and loved his act and then through searching the worldwide web I realized he had his own podcast. He puts out episodes Monday and then a check-in on Thursdays with a bonus throwback episode tied into that one. His podcast focuses on comedy mostly but also just dabbles into his daily experiences with traveling and work but also his family. For me, this is a comfort podcast because I’ve been listening to it for so long!
CBC podcasts - (one time series, Kuper Island, Telling Our Twisted Histories). CBC has a great output of one-off educational podcasts. Recently I’ve listened to Kuper Island and Telling Our Twisted Histories and they were both highly educational but also emotional. Both podcasts touch on the lives of indigenous people who suffered racial injustices but also residential schools. If you are looking for something you can connect with on a deeper level, I would recommend either of these two podcast series but also some of the many other ones that CBC produces.
Madeline’s Must Listen:
Giggly Squad – Okay, this one is relatively new to my list and I am completely obsessed. Giggly Squad is the equivalent of chatting with your closest girlfriends over margaritas. It is all things pop-culture, fashion, dating and even touches on topics like mental health, career advice and your overall well-being. With new episodes every week, it is like one hour of careless laughing and catching up with your besties. Hands up if you’re a fellow Giggler! #SeeYouInSmallClaimsCourt
Armchair Expert – I have been listening to Armchair Expert for years now. Dax & Monica are equal parts curious and fun to listen to, and their guest list is always top notch. Unlike other podcast, they invite guest from all industries and backgrounds, instead of sticking to one niche subject. I love this because every week it is a total surprise on who’s going to be on and what the conversation will be. The show also offers small spin-off podcasts on more specific subjects, which adds loads of variation to your listening!
Renegades: Born in the USA – I want to give a special shout out to one of my most favourite podcasts Renegades: Born in the USA a series of conversations between Barack Obama & Bruce Springsteen. This limited episode podcast is an incredible 8-part series where they discuss Race, Fatherhood, the American Dream and their hopes for the future. I cannot recommend it enough!
What we are both listening to:
Archetypes – We both agree that Archetypes is becoming one of our most listen to podcasts. The format is incredibly engaging and host Megan Markle is so easy to listen to. Her conversation with guests which include Serena Williams, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau and Mindy Kaling leaves you feeling empowered and connected to women from all different walks of life.
Local podcasts we love:
Did you know Windsor-Essex County has some pretty great locally recorded podcasts? Well in case you didn’t, now you do! Some of our favourites include: Hello, Hello World Podcast, Coffee with Crainer and Perfectly Unfiltered. These three podcasts are so unique and offer great listening conversation with some of our cities (and beyond!) most interesting people.
Happy listening!
T+P Team.
