Our New Look

Have you ever looked at something and just thought like hmm this doesn’t look or feel “like me” at all anymore? This could be anything from a hair-cut to a sweater to a front door paint-colour to even a work-out routine (hair-cuts are a major one for me… I don’t think I often get the same hair-cut twice).
Sigh… I think we’ve all been there and the most crucial step you can do to start feeling like “you” again is adjust, update and change… and well I’m very proud to say that’s exactly what we’ve done with Timber + Plumb!

Welcome to our new look complete with logos and watermarks, a bold yet playful colour story, custom-made patterns, and a new updated website that’s easier to navigate and enjoy. I felt it was coming time when I started feeling uninspired by our company’s overall “feel” every time I looked at our website, business cards, and even front window where our logo is displayed.

My aim for the new look really came from a couple conversations I’ve had with clients that had their homes transformed by us. The feedback I almost always get from my clients is that their homes feel full of love and warmth and have purposeful intentions mapped out in every nook and cranny. So when I started thinking about our branding I was aiming for you guessed it, a warmer colour palette with softer more playful text and little signature details filling every nook and cranny. Lastly, I wanted more variety for our overall look because most times no two projects look alike for us because no two clients are alike and I wanted to represent that within my company.

I was also incredibly excited to work with our dedicated graphic designer and my good friend Sarah from Fin Designs. I think the first time we met about four years ago (she actually interviewed me for WorkForce Windsor-Essex), we started talking about what the future of the company looked like and would be like and needless to say, I think she nailed our branding to make it look like…. well, me!

We worked on this for months going back and forth and Sarah and I created a Pinterest branding board that outlined what my overall vision was and where I was drawing inspiration from. It was not only a great way to work with a graphic designer because she was able to see where my head was at but it also made me really dive deep into what I wanted our brand to stand for.
She took our original “look” and refreshed and expanded on it by adding in a customized colour story that really hits all the marks for me. It can be used for everyday use but also has colour options to be used around different holidays throughout the year (Sarah literally thought of everything). It it truly the perfect balance between a feminine and a masculine colour scheme. One of my personal favourite little details that Sarah created for me was the custom cabinet in our logo which was inspired from one of our most loved projects. It features a “boutique” style cabinet with glass doors that showcases beautiful glassware and dishware inside but also some pottery and dried florals. The inspiration image can be found here. Sarah also (because she’s a branding genius) created me a 50 page branding guide so that going forward I can edit our website and create small graphics and content that fits with our branding so that our overall look is cohesive. I think our brand is very different from others out there and I know that our new branding really represents that and gives you, the viewer, the same feeling when you look at our work.

Just as an FYI, Sarah currently has a wait-list for business branding so if this is something you’re interested in, I would highly recommend reaching out to her as soon as you can! Here is the wait-list link.

So, if you’ve made it through my blog or just skimmed read it (that’s okay too, sometimes I have a lot to say), please let me know if you love our new look and our new website. It would mean so much to me as a lot of time, thought, and hard-work went into it on Sarah and my behalf (mostly Sarah but I like to think I assisted hahaha).

Thank-you (as always) for following along with my brand and thank-you for your excitement on this “brand” new chapter of Timber + Plumb!

Cheers,

Markie.

Ps. Here are some really fun ways Sarah creates inspiration for her clients to expand past the horizons of typical branding content.
