Finally, the days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer! Spring is in the air, and we don’t know about you guys, but we have been seriously needing this new season.

With Winter slowly passing, it is time for that much needed Spring update. This year, we are shifting our focus to a more sustainable way to revamp your house. We love including vintage, thrifted, upcycled or reused pieces in the home! This helps to create truly unique and perfectly curated spaces in the most renewable way.

While there are so many great ways to incorporate sustainable materials into the home, we want to showcase some of our favourite Windsor-Essex independent shops helping you do it! Below are just a few of the incredible places you can check out to find your next rare treasure.

Described as simple, casual, living – Sunday Home Living is a hidden gem in Windsor. With tons of antiques and upcycled furniture, the store is perfect for anyone who loves the French country or modern farmhouse look! A total light, vintage and fresh vibe.

Pink Pisces

Quickly becoming one of our favourite Amherstburg stores, Pink Pisces delivers on show stopping vintage pieces! The store also sells local artisan goods, but it’s their thrifted furniture that keeps us coming back for more. If you’re looking for a big wow piece, like bold velvet chairs, vintage amber swing lights or gorgeous mid-century furniture than put this shop on your next place to stop!

The Labyrinth

This entirely online shop delivers on unique and wonderfully weird thrifted finds! Once you start scrolling through The Labyrinth, you will be whisked away by items like vintage Ouija Board, brass bells & trinkets, and some of the funkiest sculptures you will ever see.

Thrifter Sisters

From vintage cedar chests, rattan mirrors, wicker chairs and everything in between, you will not want to miss out when one of their latest items drop! Get it before it’s gone!

Like we said, these are just a few of our current favourite independent shops - seriously, there are so many good ones in Windsor-Essex. Honourable mentions go to Jenn from Hazel and Hen, Thrifty Ones and Jyll Mackie whose Instagram is full of décor ideas and thrift finds. Don’t be afraid to incorporate a vintage or thrifted piece when you’re decorating your space! Go bold, and know that sustainable décor never goes out of style!
